It’s time for another edition of Dear Adrienne. Advice-column style guidance from the tarot cards. This time around I’m answering a question about buying a new home.

Dear Adrienne,

I’ve always rented a place to live or stayed with family. But over the last few years I’ve been wanting to find my own home to buy. Prices are still steep here, but now I don’t know if I’m not finding what I want because I’m just being picky or if I should settle for something that’s okay?

What advice do the cards have about me finding a place to call my own?

Signed, Wannabe Homeowner

Dear Wannabe Homeowner,

The house hunt can be so exciting, but so frustrating at the same time – especially in the current market! But I can totally understand your desire to get a place that’s just yours.

Featuring the Soul Cards Tarot

You mentioned settling for something that’s “okay” and with the King of Pentacles the first card out of the gate, this is your sign to strive for more than just okay. At the end of the day, we want you to find a home that makes you feel safe and comfortable. Settling for “okay” probably won’t give the stability you want because you’ll still be searching for what the right home is.

It may also be wise to get a savvy real estate agent who can take your must-haves and do the work for you. The King of Pentacles is all about working smarter, not harder – and knowing when to delegate a task.

We do want to make sure that you are making a good investment – remember, that King of Pentacles is wise when it comes to money. If you currently don’t have the funds you need to get what you want, perhaps talking to a financial advisor would help.

The good news is that there are options out there for you. The Two of Swords shows you’ll have a choice, and that the best way to make that decision is weighing the pros and cons. Be reasonable and logical about your decision – get more information if needed. Don’t leave any stone unturned.

At the same time, when you do find a place you like that meets most of your requirements, (and you will), don’t dilly dally on making the decision to go for it. That’s why the King of Pentacles suggests you are prepared on all fronts – doing so will make the decision easier.

The last card here is the Star, which shows you will find your proper home – just trust in the process. Trust in yourself to make the right choice, and trust in the universe to lead you there. Don’t give up hope, even though you’re feeling frustrated.

If you are tired of looking and not finding what you want, take a break. It’s a process, and finding the right house is definitely a huge investment of energy. Give yourself time and space to rejuvenate so you don’t wear yourself out or feel like you have no options left.

There’s no need to act in desperation. Step into that King power and take control of the situation the best you can by getting what you need to find what you want. Know that it will take time, but don’t give up hope – the right home is out there for you.
