We’re talking work and business today on Dear Adrienne, from a nitpicking boss to some budding opportunities for a startup. See what quandaries we have, and the advice the cards have in store.

Dear Adrienne,

I’ve been at my current job for a couple of years, but recently my boss has been insanely nitpicky! He’s constantly bringing up stuff that happened in the past. Even things that were like three months ago!

It’s starting to really bring me down, and make me frustrated. I know I’m good at what I do, and I like the work itself. But how do I deal with this constant picking at my job?

Dear Frustrated Worker Bee,

It can be so tedious to deal with a boss that continues to pick on things, especially from the past! Before we get into the reading, don’t let his comments deter you from doing what you know you’re capable of.

Let’s start with the Three of Cups. It feels pretty safe to say that your boss isn’t only doing this to you (if that makes you feel any better). Focus on the other relationships in your workplace, and know that you have support from your coworkers. They see you as part of the team, and will have your back if you need them to.

The Three of Cups shows a lightening of the mood at work, and this is further accentuated by the Three of Swords reversed. This shows a time of healing, where the tensions that you’ve been suffering will begin to lessen. Make sure you’re not repressing your frustration, because it will only lead to resentment. If there’s anyone you can talk to at work (even your boss if you have that kind of relationship) you likely get some relief by doing so.

The Emperor is the one who rules his kingdom with a steady hand, and with the Wheel of Fortune we have change coming your way. Your boss is likely trying to hold on to whatever control he can, and sometimes when people do that, it falls into criticising what (or who) they feel they can.

Tides are turning in your workplace, so stay the course. Find solace in your other work connections, and know that this nitpicking streak won’t last forever.

Dear Adrienne,
I am a startup. I have 2 potential partners, one in USA and another in Europe. What does the Tarot advise? Will it be a good move? Where is my business heading?

Thanks.

Dear Startup Satie,

How exciting! Congratulations on the potential partnerships, and let’s see what the cards have to say about them.

Featuring the Original 1909 Tarot by Pamela Coleman Smith and Arthur Waite

I started with the partner in the USA, which is represented by the Hierophant. This would likely be a partnership you would learn a lot from, and has a really good chance at being very successful for you!

That said, there is a certain way they expect things to be done, and this is a partnership where you’ll need to follow their rules. You might find some a bit inflexible, but at the end of the day, it has great potential.

Now when looking at the partnership in Europe, we get the Six of Wands – celebration galore! First, take a minute to be proud of yourself for getting your foot in the door here. And know that this, too, shows that it will be a good partnership for you. That said, the Six of Wands says once you’re in, there’s still a lot of work to be done!

Compared to the Hierophant, the Six of Wands does show a more laid back attitude, where you’ll have more flexibility because they already feel like you’ve proven yourself. You will likely learn more from the USA partnership, but be recognized more for what you’ve accomplished with the European one.

Overall, both are great options with lots of potential for you to learn and grow!

Where is your business heading? We have the Hermit reversed and the Knight of Pentacles. This is your time to be seen. To show people how good you are at what you do, and not shy away from the spotlight. Know that progress may be slow at time, so keep your eyes on the prize – because you will get there. Don’t forget to take care of all the little things along the way – the mundane tasks are still important and will make progress that much easier.

I’m excited to see what’s to come for you! Best of luck as you go forward.
