How do I prepare for a tarot reading?

I get asked this question a lot. Whether you’re new to tarot, new to reading with me, or a seasoned seeker, it can be both exciting and nerve wracking to get your cards read. So what can do you do get the most out of your experience?

Consider what you want to get out of your reading

Are you looking for clarity? Guidance? Motivation or validation? Help with overcoming blockages? An idea of where to go next? Healing? Or just a fun experience? Knowing why you want to get a reading can help you get into the right mindset.

Open your mind and let go of expectations

I know, I know. This is easier said than done, but no one goes into a reading knowing with 100% certainty what the cards will say. Approach with an open mind, and you’ll get far more out of our session. If you come to your tarot session expecting a certain outcome, you won’t be able to fully absorb the messages and insight that comes through.

Take a couple of deep breaths

It’s totally normal to get that nervous-anxious-excited feeling right before your reading. Take a few deep breaths and shake out some of the nervous energy. If you have extra time, do some breathwork or meditation to help yourself get centered.

Find a quiet, comfy space

Regardless of how long our session is, feel free to get comfy! Find a place where you won’t be interrupted, and minimize distractions. Grab your favourite cozy beverage, along with a pen and notebook if you feel inclined to take notes. Want to record our session? No problem! Feeling shy and don’t want to appear on camera? Totally okay.

Ask questions, and be forthcoming

Your tarot reading is for you. It’s not about me – it’s for you to get what you need. Don’t be afraid to ask questions at any time during the process. Share if you think something might be helpful. I’m not here to judge you and what happens in our reading stays between us.
